As I look forward into September, there’s an unmistakable hum of expansion moving through my body. Not the frantic kind that pulls you forward through force or fear, but the kind that comes when you’re standing in alignment with what’s actually moving in you and around you. The kind that asks you to get very still, very present, and let the river of your own life carry you forward.
September is a pivot month. The energy will shift from quiet organization into something more alive, more felt, more demanding of your presence. And this shift arrives with a question worth asking right now: How are you choosing to grow?
The hidden cost of the hero’s journey
Many of us have built our lives on edges. We have learned that growth requires friction, that transformation demands we push against something, that there must be a villain in the story before there can be a victory. In shadow work and somatic practice, we call this the shadow self. In energy work, we might name it a lower vibratory frequency. Both are ways of describing the same truth: we have organized ourselves around what we are fighting against rather than what we are moving toward.
I spent years believing I needed this edge. Pain sharpened me. Struggle proved I was serious. Comfort was a sign I was not doing enough.
Then one morning, I was working with a client who described feeling exhausted by her own ambition. She had climbed every rung, achieved every milestone she thought would matter, and somewhere in the scaffolding of her success, she had forgotten what it felt like to not be at war with herself. We sat together in that recognition, and I realized she was describing my own life back to me. We were both drowning in a story where the hero had to bleed.
But what if that is not the only story?
What if growth could feel like floating downstream instead of swimming against the current? What if prosperity, love, creative expression, and genuine transformation could arrive through alignment rather than ammunition? This feels radical to many people because you have never experienced life without an opposing force. You believe you need to stretch and suffer to create results, to work until you hurt to earn what you want. To some degree, this is true. But there is a vast unexplored territory between crushing yourself and genuine flow, and September is inviting you into it.
September’s astrological map
The month arrives with four major planetary moments, each one designed to help you practice moving into harmony instead of fighting your way forward.
September 10: Recalibrate Your Foundation
Three things happen simultaneously. A New Moon in Virgo calls for organization. Mercury enters Libra, inviting diplomacy and clear communication. Venus moves into Scorpio, deepening emotional intensity. Uranus also stations retrograde, asking you to look inward at the patterns and technologies that have been running you.
This moment is asking you to clean house, not brutally, but carefully. Set your nervous system up to win by establishing routines that support you rather than deplete you. The New Moon in Virgo is asking for organization and order in your physical space and daily habits. This is not about perfectionism. It is about creating a container that holds you.
September 22: The Equinox and the Balance Point
As the Sun enters Libra, you arrive at the autumn equinox. Light and dark exist in perfect balance. This is the aesthetic of September, the invitation to create equilibrium not as a destination but as a felt state. This is when you pause and assess. Are your relationships nourishing or extractive? Is your environment supporting your highest self or pulling you down?
September 26-27: The Fire Arrives
The Full Moon in Aries combined with Mars entering Leo creates a surge of creative fire, courage, and passion. This is permission to move boldly into what you have been organizing. Notice how this arrives after two weeks of preparation. You are not ignited and scattered. You are aligned and lit.
September 30: The Deep Dive
Mercury enters Scorpio, inviting intimate and investigative communication. By this point, you will have moved through enough of the month to know what wants to be spoken, what needs to be released, and what is asking to be claimed.
Your September practice: four steps to embodied evolution
The real work is not just in knowing what the planets are doing. It is in how you tend to yourself in real time.
Through September 10: Nervous System Stabilization
Notice what depletes you and what fuels you. Create routines that feel supportive, not punitive. A morning practice that soothes. An evening ritual that grounds. This is not wasted time. This is the foundation.
From September 10-22: Consistent Checking In
Three times a day, pause and ask yourself these questions. What do I need right now? What is my body telling me? What is the most loving thing I can do for myself in this moment? This is not self-indulgence. This is how you stay in relationship with yourself.
From September 22-27: Breathing Deeply
When the fire arrives, it can feel overwhelming if you are not anchored in your breath. The Full Moon and Mars energy will ask for movement, expression, boldness. Meet it with grounded exhalation. Long, slow breaths remind your nervous system you are safe.
Throughout the month: energetic hygiene
You are sensitive to the spaces you occupy, the people you are with, the foods you consume, the media you ingest. This is not something to apologize for or override. This is information. If something creates discord in your system, that is your wisdom speaking. Listen to it. You do not have to show up everywhere or consume everything that is offered to you.
The reframe that changes everything
Everything you do this month is an opportunity to ask one question: What is the most loving and supportive thing I can do for myself right now? Then do that without needing justification or punishment.
Evolution does not have to be forced. You get to choose the cadence, the environment, and the method.
With love,
Amy
